Frequently Asked Questions
When Should I See a Therapist?
People seek therapy for many reasons, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, grief, a desire for personal growth, and more. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply want support navigating life, therapy can help you gain insight and tools to move forward.
What Does a First Appointment Look Like?
Appointments are typically 50-60 minutes in length. Your first session is an opportunity for your therapist to get to know you, understand your goals, and gather background information. You’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, your current challenges, and any relevant history. From there, your therapist will work with you to create a personalized plan moving forward.
How Much Does Therapy Cost?
An individual counselling session costs $170. Group counselling sessions (family or couples) cost $190. We also offer therapy with Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) Student Interns at a reduced rate of $100 per session.
How Do I Fix My Jane Account When Locked Out?
If you’re locked out of your Jane account, you can reset your password by visiting the login page and clicking “Forgot Password?” A reset link will be sent to your registered email. If you need further help, don’t hesitate to contact us for support.
What Happens During a Consultation Call?
A consultation call is a brief, no-cost phone conversation (typically 15–20 minutes) where you can ask questions, share what you're hoping to work on, and determine whether a therapist is a good fit for your needs. It’s also a chance for us to explain how therapy works and what you can expect.
How Do Online Appointments Work?
For virtual sessions, our system (Jane) will send you a reminder email with a secure link 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment. Simply click the link to join your session. If you don’t receive the link, please contact us or email your therapist to ensure we have your correct email on file.
Does My Insurance Cover Therapy?
We offer direct billing to most major insurance providers, including Canada Life and Manulife. Coverage varies depending on your plan, so we recommend checking with your provider to confirm your eligibility and details before starting therapy.
What If I Don’t Connect With My Therapist?
That’s normal! It can take time to connect with someone. Express your concerns and know it’s okay to switch to find the right fit for you. We have many therapists ready to support you and your needs. Consultation calls are free and only 15 minutes.
